A Chinese Dinner : Chicken Stir Fry / un dîner chinois : Poulet sauté aux légumes

A chicken Stir Fry is perfect for busy week-ends. My 16 y. old son is a Junior in HIgh School. He is fortunate enough to be taking Culinary arts this year, learn new techniques and bring home new recipes. So Sunday, he showed us how to make a Chicken Stir Fry. It's easy to make, so fast and excellent. When it was ready, my son said "Mom, it's ready to eat, but not ready to take a picture". So no picture today! Next time, I will add chunks of pineapple to give more flavor.   Un poulet sauté aux... [Lire la suite]

Chicken with Tomatoes and fresh Mozzarella

I shop at my farmer's market as often as possible to buy fruits and vegetables. It's the perfect season to eat fresh tomatoes in appetizer, in salad or cooked. I love cherry tomatoes cooked with garlic. Yesterday, I made Chicken breast with mozzarella, basil and cherry tomatoes. It's the easiest chicken's recipe that I've made. It's a quick and delicious recipe.  My whole family enjoyed this meal :)  La Fourmi Elé a French cooking blog inspired me for this recipe. Simply make sure that the chicken is cooked.... Slow-Cooked Boeuf Bourguignon

Have you ever seen "Julie and Julia" by Nora Ephron? This movie is based on two true stories, about real-life women who never met, Julia Child and Julie Powell. Julia Child, expatried in France in 1949 decides to learn the art of French cooking. As for Julie, she decides to create a blog in 2002 in New York  "Julie and Julia, 524 recipes in 365 days" following Child's cookbook "Mastering the art of French cooking". Baked Chicken in Creamy Tomato Sauce

I just picked up this cookbook : Dinner a Love Story by Jenny Rosenstrach. I couldn't stop reading it. I love this cookbook! I enjoyed discovering her story and her recipes. She has a lot of good ideas for Dinner, even if you do not have enough time to cook! Her Baked Chicken in Creamy Tomato Sauce is so good. I couldn't believe it that I needed 3 tablespoons of mascarapone to make this wonderful recipe. I now understand what is the Creamy Tomato sauce. I have never cooked with mascarpone, it was my first time. I just used mascarpone... [Lire la suite]

Green Paella

Try this fabulous vegetarian paella! It's so good! It's a way to introduce more vegetables for my kids. This dish is really healthy. I could add more vegetables : fresh spinach.... I could also garnish this dish with 1 dried red chili pepper (crumbled)-just before to serve-, but I am sure if I did it, my kids would not eat. And would said, "oh no mom it's too spicy!" :( I used ground turmeric, instead safran. Turmeric is an alternative to the far more expensive saffron spice. The ground turmeric colored so well the rice. ... [Lire la suite]

Lentils with Green Onions

Lentills are relatively quick and easy to prepare. They do not require presoaking and cook to tenderness in only 20 or 30 minutes.   "Healthy Heart" Cookbook - American Medical Association- inspired me for this recipe : a really good book to eat and live well, a book to fight heart disease. It's wonderful, the green onions -that I added just at the end- give a super flavor and the cooking is perfect! Serving : 2-3 Ingrédients : 1 Tbs olive oil 1/2 yellow onion, chopped  2 cups fat-free, no-salt... [Lire la suite]
